I LOVE THIS LOCK. I’ve had 4 keyless door locks on my camper and this is by far my favorite. This keyless entry door lock is a great upgrade for my RV. The all-metal construction feels solid and durable, not cheap like some of the plastic ones. Installation was straightforward and it fit perfectly in place of the original lock. The keypad is responsive and easy to use, and it locks and unlocks smoothly every time. It adds a lot of convenience not having to carry a key around, especially when going in and out frequently. Overall, it feels secure, well built, and works exactly as expected.

    Pretty substantial unit!
We have a travel trailer with a standard fiberglass-sandwich type door (not one of the glass-faced doors that have become inexplicably popular of late). It has the standard latch that has two keyholes on the outside, with one locking the handle and the other engaging the deadbolt.

It works just fine, nothing fancy.

I got this one for things like when I want to take the dogs for a walk and don’t want to have to carry (and possibly lose) the whole wad of camper keys.

This lock is beefy. It probably weighs in at 2.5 to 3lbs all by itself. It does protrude from the face of the door by 1/2 inch or so, where the original one was mostly flush.

It can be locked/unlocked with a key, just like my old one – but also with a numeric code on the keypad or by using one of the included remote fobs. The code is user configurable, and can be set from 4 to 8 digits. It also doesn’t seem to come with a “factory code” installed, which should help save you from yourself if you are one of those folks that will just use the master code “for now” and set up a personal one “someday”…..

Retaining the key functionality was important to me because I had shied away from these types of devices in the past due to reading horror stories about people getting locked out of their campers due to dead batteries. If nothing else, we should always be able to get in with a key.

I suppose if you were to lock the keys inside and then lose your fob and forget your password (or the batteries die while you are gone), then you are going to have a bad day – but not really any worse than if you just lost your keys in the first place.

On a side note (and I would never admit this to my wife!), I am looking forward to using the combination lock, just for those times when I need to run to where we store the trailer to pick up or drop off something, only to realize when I get there that I forgot the keys!

One final note – I am a member of several user groups related to the brand of camper I own, and have seen many reports of people having glass-faced doors shatter at some point after installing an aftermarket door lock (not necessarily this one, it doesn’t seem to be brand-specific). If you are considering installing one of these on a door like that, pay very close attention to how the assembly fits in the door opening – especially in the corners. Glass isn’t very forgiving to stress – especially tempered glass – and many of the folks who had problems had noticed that their new latch fit tightly in the corners. if the corner radius is tight and the body of the lock is pressing against it, that glass is likely going to give someday.

Great Upgrade for Our RV Door
I recently installed this RV door handle with keypad entry and it has been a fantastic upgrade from the standard factory latch. The kit comes very well packaged and includes two key fobs, the tools needed for installation, and clear instructions, which made the whole process quick and straightforward. One of the best features is the keypad entry. Being able to unlock the door with a code means I don’t always have to carry keys when stepping outside the camper for a quick trip or when the kids are going in and out. The two included key fobs are also really convenient for unlocking the door from a short distance, almost like a car key remote. Installation was easier than expected. The included tools and hardware made it simple to swap out the old handle and it fit perfectly in the existing RV door cutout. The handle itself feels solid and well-built and the keypad buttons are responsive and easy to press. Overall, this is a great security and convenience upgrade for any RV or camper.
